BACK TO THE PRESENT FOR THE CONVENIENCE STORE

January 20, 2020

The modern consumer may be constantly changing, but it is important to remember that many of their traditional shopping occasions and priorities remain the same. Despite an ever-changing marketplace, traditional strengths will continue to offer convenience store operators opportunities to drive sales, loyalty and customer satisfaction.

For example, quick and easy shopping solutions—the signature strengths of c-stores—remain a principal desire for consumers when buying food and beverages. Embracing Modern Convenience: Responding to Shopper Needs, the latest study from the NACS/Coca‑Cola Retailing Research Council (CCRRC), explains how convenience stores should address shifting shopper preferences, without sacrificing traditional convenience store values, to best connect with today’s shoppers.

As detailed on page 8 of the study, c-stores must sharply focus on providing quick, easy and accessible solutions, including low-tech concerns like ease of parking, to ensure an efficient trip in and out of the store for consumers.

There are several methods for meeting both traditional and emerging shopper needs, many of which detailed in CCRRC’s latest report, which can be downloaded for free at www.ccrrc.org.
